Message of the President

Dear students,

welcome to the Hellenic Open University.

Our institution belongs to the major public universities of the country with a high academic level, while in a recent survey it was included among the five (5) best Distance Learning Universities in the world. At the same time, it was awarded with the responsibility of organising the European Conference of Open Universities in 2022.

Our Foundation provides more than 50 Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Programmes in specialised subjects in Greek and other languages, and hosts more than 50,000 students who are enrolled in all three cycles of higher education. In addition, it has a complete and integrated Academic environment, with the most modern telematic and distance education facilities, specially developed teaching material for Distance Learning, international collaborations, workshops, cultural groups, an Distance Library, reading rooms and modern facilities.

Our mission is to provide Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education and Training, using the Distance Learning and Teaching method. Our objectives include the promotion of Scientific Research, as well as the development of Technology and Methodology in the field of in distance knowledge transfer.

The HOU, based in Patras, provides the possibility of telematic and distance education, through the most modern methods, even in the most remote areas of the world.

Our vision is a Public, Open, Modern, Contemporary, Extroverts University that ensures the good of Education and promotes Innovation, Research and Excellence, following international standards
