{"id":58231,"date":"2025-05-08T10:39:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T07:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eap.gr\/?p=58231"},"modified":"2025-05-08T10:39:30","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T07:39:30","slug":"presentation-of-the-openeu-project-at-the-hellenic-open-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eap.gr\/en\/2025\/05\/08\/presentation-of-the-openeu-project-at-the-hellenic-open-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the OpenEU Project at the Hellenic Open University"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The first internal event for the presentation of the <strong>OpenEU <\/strong>project was successfully held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.), in Patras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OpenEU<\/strong> is an innovative pan-European initiative which includes eight of Europe&#8217;s leading open and distance learning universities, two brick-and-mortar universities from Eastern Europe, and 27 academic and non-academic organizations. The aim of the <strong>OpenEU<\/strong> Alliance is to create a pan-European open university that will enhance the digital, green, and social dimensions of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, the following topics were presented:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>the vision and strategic objectives of the Alliance,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the organizational structure and Work Packages of the project,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>as well as the future development prospects of OpenEU.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The key contributors to the event were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>the Rector of H.O.U., Professor <strong>Manolis Koutouzis<\/strong>, who presented the vision and the importance of the University&#8217;s participation in the project,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the project coordinator on behalf of HOU, Professor <strong>Achilleas Kameas<\/strong>, who explained the organizational structure of the implementation and presented selected work packages,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and members of the H.O.U. project team: Professors <strong>Giorgos Koulaouzidis<\/strong>, Professor <strong>Dimitris Kalles<\/strong>, and Professor <strong>Sofi Leontopoulou<\/strong>, who presented key points of the work packages they coordinate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;A welcome address was given by the Coordinator of the OpenEU Alliance, <strong>Pastora Mart\u00ednez Samper<\/strong>, who highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was attended by more than 120 members of the broader academic community of HOU, both in person and via live online streaming \u2014 a fact that underscores the strong appeal of the initiative and confirms the University\u2019s ongoing commitment to this important endeavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Hellenic Open University<\/strong>, as an active member of the OpenEU Alliance, reaffirms its strategic role in shaping the future of higher
