The DAISSy Research Group<\/strong><\/a> of the Hellenic Open University (HOU)<\/strong> has been implementing the “GenderED Coalition: A cross-country coalition against gender disinformation for equitable societies”<\/strong> European project, as the Greek partner, with the ultimate goal of informing and empowering social media users, so as to recognize and respond to gender disinformation and gender-based discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within this framework, DAISSy-HOU contributes to the implementation of awareness activities by emphasizing on raising public sensitization through targeted actions that spark interest and challenge complacency. Within this regard, a key initiative was the Citizen Hackathon<\/strong>, successfully held in September 2024 in Perugia (Italy), that brought together fifty (50) young activists from across Europe, whose dynamic interaction, led to empowering narratives and ideas for awareness initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, DAISSy-HOU successfully gained the support of the campaign by highly respected professionals in Greece, namely (and in alphabetical order) Anastasia Giamali<\/strong> (journalist, radio producer, and TV presenter), Katerina Sergidou<\/strong> (journalist and translator), Vasilis Thanopoulos<\/strong> (journalist and editor-in-chief of Antivirus magazine), and Athina Tsagkaraki<\/strong> (screenwriter). They responded positively and enthusiastically to DAISSy-HOU\u2019s invitation, acknowledging the importance of the initiative, and the Research Group is deeply thankful for their support. The campaigns’ impact has been remarkable<\/strong>, since total views on Instagram<\/strong> and TikTok<\/strong> have already surpassed 4.7 million and 1.1 million<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
