Sotiris Lycourghiotis is a Civil Engineer with a Master’s degree and PhD in the fields of geography and environment. He received his Diploma from the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras (2007), his MSc from the same department (2009) and his PhD from the School of Science and Technology of the Hellenic Open University (2020). He has more than 60 scientific publications in international journals, conferences and book chapters. He has participated as a researcher in more than 10 research projects. He has taught for 13 years at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peloponnese. His main research interests focus on the areas of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geodesy-geography, natural disasters, climate change, environment, green energy and biofuels. He is a reviewer of scientific journals and a member of the organizing committee of conferences. He has supervised more than 40 theses. He is the author of 4 books.

He has taught the courses: Road Construction, Topography, Special Topography Topics – Modern Mapping Techniques & GIS, Traffic & Transport Systems, Safety Measures in Structural Works, Environmental Impact Studies in Engineering Projects, etc.
