The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs submits proposals on issues within his areas of responsibility to the Rector, the Administrative Council and the Senate. He supervises and ensures the proper functioning of the University’s academic units and coordinates all activities and collaborations between the Schools of the Hellenic Open University (HOU). He supervises, coordinates and submits recommendations on issues concerning the Study Programmes of all three cycles. He supervises and coordinates issues relating to undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes.
He supervises and submits proposals to the decision-making bodies on matters relating to educational material and cooperation with relevant organisations. He supervises and heads the Quality Assurance Unit (QAUT) of the University. He supervises and coordinates quality assurance matters. He supervises and coordinates the evaluation of the Academic Programmes and of the Institution. Additionally, he is chairperson of the Postgraduate Studies Committee and advises on the strategic planning of the Institution’s postgraduate study programmes. He oversees matters related to the organization and operation of the University’s libraries and ensures their connection with relevant national and international associations. He also submits recommendations to the decision-making bodies regarding the adoption of measures that ensure the promotion of gender equality and the elimination of discrimination. He chairs and supervises the operation of the Ethics Committee. He sets up committees on issues that fall under his responsibilities. In cooperation with the Rector and the Executive Director, he is responsible for the preparation of the draft of the Internal Regulation for his area of responsibility.
