The main purpose of the post-graduate program in Health Unit Management is to prepare executives with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage health units. Through education, graduates will acquire the necessary skills to be able to formulate and make decisions that are rationally based and socio-culturally acceptable. An additional purpose of the MSc is to promote science and research in the field of health and health services and to cultivate an interdisciplinary approach to these issues.

The Post-graduate programme accepts graduates or higher institution diplomas of related disciplines. The programme is offered in Greek.
The knowledge of a foreign language and good computer-Internet skills would be useful for the successful participation in the programme.

Holders of a degree or diploma of higher education means graduates of Greek Universities or Polytechnics or Higher School of Fine Arts or Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education or Higher Technological Educational Institutions (ATEI) or those who hold academically equivalent first cycle degrees from recognized foreign educational institutions with the degrees awarded by the Greek Higher Educational Institutions, in accordance with the provisions of article 304 of Law No. 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/21.07.2022, vol.)
Clarification regarding foreign academic institutions
When evaluating an application to a Postgraduate Study Programme, the University will examine whether the candidate’s institution of study is included, or is eligible to be included, in the National Registry of Recognized Foreign Higher Education Institutions, and whether the candidate’s degree is included, or is eligible to be included, in the National Registry of Degree Types Awarded by Recognized Foreign Institutions. If the degree is listed under Article 307 of Law 4957/2022, the Hellenic Open University is required to request a “Certificate of Place of Study”, which must be issued and sent directly by the foreign university. If the certificate confirms that the place of study, or any part of the studies, took place within Greek territory, the degree cannot be recognized—unless the portion of studies completed in Greece was carried out at a public Higher Education Institution or at a recognized foreign educational institution, as defined in point (b) of Article 299 of Law 4957/2022.
The MSc “Health Care Unit Management” is structured in two (2) academic years, which include four (4) units and a thesis. In order to obtain the M.Sc. degree, the successful completion of four units is mandatory, as well as the successful completion of the Master’s Thesis. The minimum duration for the completion of the programme is two (2) years. The total number of credits (ECTS) required for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialisation (M.Sc.) is 120 ECTS.

Guidelines on Module selection
In the first academic year, if you choose one Module, you must choose DMY50, while if you choose two Modules, you must choose DMY50 and DMY51. If you choose three (3) Modules, you must also choose DMY60.
In the second academic year, if you choose one Module, you must choose the Module DMY61, while if you choose two Modules, you must choose both DMY61 and the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis.
The presentation and examination of the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis takes place after the successful completion of all four Modules of the Programme.
In the process of declaring a Module, the previous year’s Module must be exhausted first and then the next year’s Module declaration must begin.
In order to complete the programme in two academic years, you must successfully complete three Modules in the first year of study and one Module in the second year in parallel with the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis, according to the above guidelines.
