The aim of the programme is to provide specialised knowledge to people who are or will be employed in the field of cultural management.

Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:

  • Understand the basic concepts of culture, the cultural industry, cultural policy and management.
  • Explore the ways in which cultural management, policy and communication are shaped in the cultural realm.
  • Identify the systems of economic management, administration, communication and cultural policy in the institutional framework that has been developed.
  • Describe new trends in cultural economics and methods of promoting culture in the information and knowledge society.
  • Examine the structure, organisation and management of cultural units in the existing institutional framework.
  • Develop their research skills and critical thinking in management, cultural policy development, economic analysis, and communication strategy for the promotion of cultural goods and organizations.

ECTS Programme of Studies Credits: 120

The minimum duration of study is 3 academic years.

The Post-graduate programme accepts graduates or higher institution diplomas of related disciplines. The programme is offered in Greek. 

The knowledge of a foreign language and good computer-Internet skills would be useful for the successful participation in the programme.


Degree holders or holders of higher education diploma are all the degree holders of Greek Universities and Technological Educational Institutes’ or departments with equivalent foreign degree recognised by the Hellenic NARIC (Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center – DOATAP/former DIKATSA) respectively or holders of the first cycle of study of the above-mentioned departments of accredited foreign institutions*.

By the term Universities we mean University Schools, Technical Universities and the Athens School of Fine Arts.

*Note: According to paragraph 7, article 34 of Law 4485/2017 “Diploma of Postgraduate Studies is not awarded to a student whose first cycle degree from a foreign institution has not been recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DIKATSA/DOATAP), according to Law 3328/2005 (A’80)”.

Students can choose in the first year either DPM50 or DPM51. However, in order to choose any of the second year units, students must first have successfully completed DPM51.

The presentation of the post-graduate thesis will take place after the successful completion of all four units of the programme

In the units declaration process, the previous year’s units must be exhausted first and then the next year’s units declaration must begin.

For the acquisition of the MDE, the successful attendance of four theses as well as the successful completion of the Postgraduate Thesis is mandatory.
