Education and immersion in the concepts, theoretical issues, and practical applications of folk/popular culture and modern cultural heritage.
Aim
The Programme aims at a focused and holistic approach to modern popular culture, highlighting popular events and phenomena in both traditional and modern Greek society and its management practices and cultural policies. The approach to popular culture encompasses theoretical and methodological issues. It includes the analysis and interpretation of specific manifestations of popular culture (such as folk art/handicrafts, folk events/carnivals, narrative discourse, dietary habits, production and consumption of goods, folk forms of entertainment, etc.), familiarization with the concepts of popular culture and cultural heritage, as well as the policies of culture, particularly the management policies and practices of modern cultural heritage, is a key pillar of the postgraduate Programme. The Programme covers the period from the mid-19th century to today (21st century), with Greece featuring as the main reference area, enriched with examples from the Balkans and the wider Western/European area.
Characterisation of the Programme
Master of Arts (M.A.)
ECTS
The total number of credits (ECTS) required for the award of Master of Arts (MA) is 120 ECTS.
Duration of Study
The minimum time required for the completion of the Programme is two (2) years, i.e. four (4) semesters.
Language of the Programme
The official language of the Programme is Greek. This means that the language in which all materials content and written assignments is Greek.

Learning Outcomes
After completing the ΜΑ, students are expected to:
The Postgraduate programme accepts graduates who hold degrees or diplomas of higher education. The programme is offered in Greek.
The knowledge of a foreign language and good computer-Internet skills would be useful for the successful participation in the programme.
Note:
The phrase “Holders of a degree or diploma of higher education” refers to graduates of Greek Universities or Polytechnics or Higher Schools of Fine Arts or Higher Schools of Pedagogical and Technological Education or Higher Technological Educational Institutions (ATEI), or those who hold first cycle degrees from recognized foreign educational institutions that are academically equivalent with the degrees awarded by the Greek Higher Educational Institutions, in accordance with the provisions of article 304 of Law No. 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/21.07.2022, vol.Α΄)

The minimum duration of studies is four (4) academic terms. The total sum of ECTS required in order to obtain the Postgraduate Specialization Diploma (PSD) is 120.

You can choose from one (1) to two (2) Modules per semester (30 ECTS).
In the process of registering for a Module, the Modules of the previous semesters must be successfully completed first and then the Module of the next semester must be selected. For example, if you have successfully completed one (1) Module from the first semester and in the second semester you wish to select two (2) Modules, you must opt for one (1) Module from the first semester and one (1) from the second semester and so on.
In the 4th semester, you may choose either the Module LPK63, or the Master’s Thesis (LPKDE) or the Internship Programme (PLKPA).
The preparation of the Master’s Thesis presupposes the successful attendance of the six (6) Modules of the Programme.
The presentation of the Master’s Thesis takes place after the successful completion of all the program’s Modules.
In order to obtain the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization it is compulsory: either the successful completion of six (6) Modules, as well as the successful elaboration and presentation of the Master’s Thesis, or the successful completion of seven (7) Modules and the Internship Programme (PLKPA).

Financial contribution for admitted students until the academic year 2023-2024:
The financial contribution for students to the Programme is as follows:
The cost of each Module is €450, the cost of the Internship Programme is €525 and the cost of the Master Thesis is €1,200.
The total financial contribution for the students who choose the six (6) modules and the Master Thesis is: €3,900.
The total financial contribution for the students who choose the seven (7) modules and the Internship Programme is: €3,675.
