  • understand the importance of the methods of financial analysis of an entity’s accounting data.

Upon completion of the thematic unit, students will be able to

  • assess the investment plans of a company under both deterministic and uncertainty conditions, calculate the cost and risk of an investment and its net cash flows. Also, understand and calculate the optimal point of investment for a business
  • understand the link between risk and return, and evaluate bonds and equities; understand the use of derivatives for hedging. Also, evaluate the weighted average cost of capital of a company and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of business capital structure
  • understand the importance of a company’s cash flows, the goal of maximizing the value of the business and agency problems
  • understand divident policies and their information content, as well as their link to the business life cycle, and moreover, understand the rules governing short-term financing and working capital management.

  • apply the basic accounting practices for unlimited and limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies
